NASPA Joins Over 100 Pharmacy Organizations Urging PBM Reform

NASPA has joined a broad coalition of pharmacy organizations, patient advocates, labor groups, and national retailers in signing a joint letter to Congress calling for swift passage of the PBM Reform Act and related bipartisan legislation.

The letter, sent to congressional leaders in early September, urges lawmakers to prioritize pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms that would lower prescription drug costs, improve patient access to care, and support community pharmacies. Key provisions include delinking PBM revenue from drug prices, banning spread pricing in Medicaid, requiring savings to be passed directly to employers and families, ensuring fair contracts in Medicare Part D, and increasing PBM transparency.

The coalition emphasizes the urgency of reform, citing rising out-of-pocket costs, pharmacy closures across the country, and the billions of dollars PBMs have extracted from the system at the expense of patients and pharmacies.
