A Commitment to Service
Cory Lehano’s dedication to community service is deeply rooted in the Hawaiian values of mālama (to care) and kuleana (responsibility). Understanding that meaningful healthcare extends beyond dispensing medications, he built Mauliola Pharmacy to be a hub for community engagement and wellness. By cultivating strong partnerships with state and county agencies, health centers, and community organizations, he has helped expand access to chronic disease management, elder care, youth services, and wellness education across Maui County.
Leadership in Crisis
When disaster struck during the 2023 Maui wildfires, Cory and his team made the courageous decision to prioritize their community’s needs above all else. Despite significant personal and business risks, they ensured that residents had access to essential medications, supplies, and healthcare support, even navigating government barricades to provide aid in the most devastated areas.
A Legacy of Community-Driven Pharmacy
Cory believes that serving the community is at the heart of being a pharmacist. He often reflects on the Hawaiian proverb, “I Ola ʻOe, I Ola Mākou Nei”—when you thrive, we all thrive. This guiding principle fuels his passion for advancing community health through both pharmacy practice and advocacy.
As a recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia Award, Cory’s contributions stand as an inspiring example of how pharmacists can transform healthcare by building trust, service, and resilience within their communities.
