The National Community Pharmacists Association, an Alexandria-based national healthcare trade association located near King Street metro, is seeking a State Government Affairs Manager to assist in their state government affairs presence. This position is primarily focused on pharmacy scope of practice issues. They will also assist in the coordination of state legislative and regulatory activities through research and legislative/regulatory tracking. The candidate will be responsible for making direct contact with state policy makers and related staff to convey the association’s position on legislative and regulatory issues. Other responsibilities include regulatory comments and testimony/talking points; fostering relationships with affiliated state organizations; and providing relevant state government affair’s materials for the website.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree and have a working knowledge of state government procedures, Medicaid, health care and the insurance industry. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must, as well as, having the ability to work independently and being self-driven. Some travel required.
