The US Department of Health & Human Services issued a fourth amendment to the PREP Act. NASPA shared information provided by APhA. As a highlight, included in that amendment, among other items:
- Clarification of the education requirements for pharmacists to order and administer, and pharmacist interns and pharmacy technicians to administer COVID-19 and childhood vaccines. For states that authorize pharmacists to order and administer vaccines with less specified training than the PREP Act 20-hour ACPE required education, pharmacists can be covered under the PREP Act if in compliance with specified state law education requirements for order & administer provisions.
- Mandated basic CPR training can be met via an online program that has received accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the ACPE, or the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.
- Expands the provision of Covid-19 Covered Countermeasures via telehealth across state lines.
