Active People, Healthy Nation Initiative Aims to Help Americans Become More Active

The CDC has launched a national initiative to help 27 million Americans because more physically active by 2027.  Increased physical activity can improve health, quality of life, and reduce health care costs, and reduce the risk of at least 20 chronic diseases and conditions. The  CDC lists other potential benefits to becoming more active as better school performance, lower health care costs, stronger local economies, less air pollution, more cohesive communities, and enhanced national security.

The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has also just released a new resource for health professionals to promote their updated Physical Activity Guidelines.
