State Provider Status Legislative Update

State legislative sessions are in full swing across the U.S. and a myriad of legislation pertaining to patient access to pharmacists services is in the works. There are now 95 active bills that fall in one of three areas of activity: scope of practice¬†(medication/immunization administration, collaborative practice agreements, prescriptive authority, etc); payment for services; and pharmacists’ designation as providers.

Of note, several of the bills are carryovers that haven’t seen much activity since early 2017 but are still “active” because those states have two year legislative sessions.
